Just been on twitter, and seen a discussion about Crafts at Christmas (and other holidays).
I dont make anything for the holidays. I dont make gifts, cards or decorations. Sometimes I feel a little guilty – often around July when I see the “It’s Christmas!” shows on the shopping channels, but I soon get over that.
I dont make costumes for Halloween. We dont have a huge tradition of “Trick or Treat” here, and there arent many children who come round for sweets (makes a change from the last few years I was in Ireland), so I dont make costumes for children.
I always mean to make up lavender sachets for people for presents – I still have a load of lavender here for use – but never get /around to making things up for gifts.
So what else do people do/make for holidays? Celebrations?
I made some cards once for Christmas but, you know, they took about 8 hours each and I decided I couldn’t do that every year as they only go in the bin afterwards – not everyone appreciates the effort put in to cross stitching. I’d much rather spend a long time (as in 1,500+ hours) on something to put on the wall. I have been known to make a get well soon card though…
