As probably most people with a crafty style hobby, I do have a stash of buttons lying around in a little “button box”. If throwing clothes out (which I tend to wear to death, so rarely good enough to be donated to charity), I cut the buttons off. Shirts can get you 6 – 10 buttons (depending whether there are long sleeves with buttons or not). Trousers get you 1 plus a spare.
Sharon B over at pintangle.com seems to do something decorative with her buttons with her “I dropped the button box” quilt. I’m currently a lot less adventurous – I use buttons for what they were designed for. Sewing onto shirts, bed linen etc that needs a button to make sure it keeps closed. What do you do with your button stash? Know anyone who actually uses them in craft?
I use buttons all over the place, they look great added into cross-stitching for that little something extra, and can make great embellishments on cards and scrapbook layouts! I even buy “special” buttons now!
