OOOOh! I’ve just found another potentially dangerous website for me!
It’s called Blurb, and it’s one of the websites that can make books out of your photographs, blogs etc. I had thought about making one up of all the photos for my brother’s wedding as a Christmas present, but realised that perhaps I dont have enough [...]

November 24, 2007My Big Toe Designs
November 18, 2007I finally gave in the other week and ordered some My Big Toe Designs.
They are a Christian based cross-stitch design company located in Boise, Idaho, but unfortunately, dont sell their designs to the public themselves. I therefore had to find a vendor over here, and chose Lekker Threads from which to order copies of Reflections [...]
Working whilst travelling
November 10, 2007It’s rare that I take a WIP out with me and work on it whilst travelling (train, plane etc). I dislike bringing attention to my personal stuff, and so always fear that I’m going to be stared at if doing cross stitch in public. However, today, I was travelling out on the train to stay [...]
SBQ Question – Frogging
November 8, 2007 When you have to frog out stitches, do you reuse that thread or do you start over with a new strand?
It really depends on how the frogged thread looks.
Krenick – never. I had to pull a load out for the recent Wedding picture and it looked vile when being stitched and 100% [...]
Calendars
November 7, 2007I currently have the 2007 version of this calendar sitting on my desk. Whilst I havent actually stitched any of the items as yet, I’m actually tempted to get next year’s edition as well. The patters, whilst small, are clear, there’s certainly enough of them for your buck (I think they sell for [...]
SBQ question – gift giving
November 7, 2007What proportion of your stitching is for your own personal use versus gifts?
Oooh! interesting question!
In terms of volume, much of my stitching starts out as stuff for myself. I have quite a few pictures on my wall, and lavender sachets in my drawers.
However, when I do make gifts for people, they may be low [...]
Christmas anyone?
November 7, 2007Bleugh. Christmas. I see people already creating for the holiday season (thanksgiving onwards), and simply don’t have the energy. What kind of things do people make for Christmas, really? It brings back shuddery memories of making crackers in school out of toilet roll holders, wrapped in shaky paper and hanging them on the tree.
I’m sure [...]
Is there anyone out there?
November 7, 2007One of the things I really need to work on is expanding out my contacts within the various communities out there…. A while ago I set up a group for stitchers in my local area, but as yet, have had little interest. Of the current 5 members, only 2 people are remotely vocal, and [...]
The Framed Present
November 5, 2007
The Framed Present, originally uploaded by Nordie.
Here’s how the picture looked framed up.
I managed to give it to the couple the day before the wedding, and they certainly appreciated it and enjoyed it.
One day hope to see it hanging on their wall!
