Work in Progress – Balloons

June 24, 2007

wip0028, originally uploaded by Nordie.
How far I’ve got in the last week or so on the Hickmott “Balloon” kit. Only a couple of froggings, from where I’m not paying attention, but we’ll get there.
Meanwhile, I’ve had to stop myself getting too excited and dropping all current WIPS in favour of knitting a [...]

Take a Break

June 19, 2007

I’ve decided to take a short break from The Wedding, due to my inability to count (!), and have decided to do some work on the much simpler “Beautiful Balloons” designed by Mary Hickmott.  A completed version is attached below as an indicter of what I’m trying to do

Grr

June 15, 2007

Light has been funny here all day due to the rain.  Have been working on the Lavender and Lace pattern “The Wedding” which has several colours that are very similar (822 and blanc) and for every stitch I’m making I’ve had to rip at least 3 out. There’s a problem somewhere and I cant find [...]

Tab Closing

June 11, 2007

Another round of tab closing….
I found a copy of “The Art of Embroidery: Inspirational Stitches, Textures and Surfaces” at a website called The Book Depository. UK based, many of the books are cheaper than the equivalent on Amazon.co.uk (they also do a comparison with Amazon), as well as offering free P&P. At £15.00, it’s a [...]

Photography day out

June 10, 2007

wip0012, originally uploaded by Nordie.
Today was lovely outside, so rather than spend it inside with all the sewing I have to do, I decided to trek outside. I brought a new lens for my camera a few weeks ago and decided to give it and my new tripod a test drive
There’s a park about [...]

wedding, schmeding

June 9, 2007

Despite promising myself that I wouldnt do any more stitching until I had at least done the housework, I started doing the Lavender and Lace “The Wedding” kit last week. I tried to do it for my older brother’s wedding, but failed miserably (I HATE working on Linen!), so am attempting it for [...]

How Much?

June 8, 2007

I found an article on Ethics and the Needlework Industry, on Craftgossip.com, which began by linking to another article about how much needlework designers get paid. The article goes on to discuss other things, but it was interesting that it came up not long after my completed WIP.
I’ve always wondered if I could make [...]
